Have you spent hours pouring over the Insta accounts of your fav influences, professional stationery designers or even your nearest and dearest, admiring their stunning invitations and thinking ‘gosh, just how did they make them so beautiful?

& more importantly, how much it cost….?

Or have you found yourself going down the rabbit hole that is Pinterest and ending up with what feels like a million saved pins and actually be no closer to figuring out what you want your all-important invitations to look like?

Yes, the rabbit hole is real and just like you, I’ve found myself there many a time! So I understand the journey you are embarking on.

But I’ll let you in on a #notsosecret secret, when it comes to your wedding (or any event) invitations there is no right or wrong design.

There’s no pre-determined template you need to follow or set of words that must be used to ensure your guests get the message that you’re celebrating a big event in your life! Your invitations (and all stationery for that matter) should reflect you! Your personality, your style, your love story…

It should all be about you, even down to that watercolour image of your furchild because yes, you named a cocktail after him on your beverage menu! (...yes, that actually happened and yes we actually created it).

So with that in mind, and the power of a little online program called Canva, your all-important invitation can be the stuff of dreams and you can be the professional designer behind them all. Which means, that when it’s your friends ‘ooohhhing’ and ‘aaahhhing’ over your wedding photos, you’ll be able to claim full bragging rights on who created those stunning designs they are fawning over.

But where do you start?

What are the key things you need to know about designing your invites in Canva?

& what even is Canva?

Well, that’s where I come in…

I adore Canva and use it pretty much every day; from crafting social media posts, creating new invitation templates through to proofing my clients Canva designs as part of our Specialty Print Service, it’s easy to say my Canva Pro Account sure does get its money’s worth of use.

& if I’ve learnt one thing over the years, it is that with the right teacher behind you, you can achieve anything in Canva and you’re not going to need a bachelors degree in Graphic Design to achieve it.

It's for this reason I dreamed up the ‘Design Your Own Elegant Invitations Workshop’; a 60 minute online workshop where I’m going to run through all the essentials that you need to know to craft an elegant (and on trend invitation) in Canva and get another thing ticked of your event planning ‘To-Do’ list!

In 60 mins we’ll cover:

- Setting up your artboard to the correct sizes (plus common envelope sizes)
- Sourcing popular fonts + uploading them (Pro Canva account required for this)
- Working with Shapes
- What details to include for a Wedding / Event
- How to add in a QR code / how to best hide a QR code
- How to transform your invite design into a Details Card + RSVP
- How to get your document print ready
- How to set up your document if you want to print in white / gold ink

This Workshop is for you if desire to:

- Make your their own event stationery (invites, RSVPs, details cards) on Canva but are unsure where to start

- Have the support of a Pro Stationery Designer (e.g. Me!) but without paying $$$ in custom design costs

- Continue on with ongoing support with printing their stationery once the fun of designing is over (and wants all the fancy shapes and finishes that you can’t always get from online retailers!).

This Work May Not Be for You If

- You’re not entirely sure what you want when it comes to your event stationery and you’re time poor (in which case I’d love to chat about our Custom Design services here because I can totally take the pressure off you there).

- You’re not overly interested in learning about Canva nor in designing your own stationery.

- You’re not too fussed about having bragging rights over your friends and family and being able to say ‘I designed those myself!’ but you know you want the most EPIC stationery ever… In which case we DEFINITELY need to have a chat about our custom services!

Either way, the aim of this workshop is to have a bit of fun, impart my wisdom and knowledge as a professional stationery designer and support you all on your wedding and event planning journey!

I’m Tania, aka The Event Wanderer.

I’ve always been a lover of ‘love’. A believer in fairy tales, family and most importantly, celebration. Having spent over 15 years working in various roles across large, small and even international events, I know the stress and chaos that can manifest when planning any form of celebration! More so when the event is one that is deeply personal and where love is a driving factor.

But the way I see it, event planning should be enjoyable, and you know what, with the right vendors on hand, it can be.

I'm also a massive advocate for Canva and harnessing the power of designing and using your own talents to create amazing stationery. I love nothing more than putting joy on our clients faces and seeing them being overjoyed with the end result of their own design processes and I can't wait to help you as well.
